Howdy! If you're reading this, you probably received a letter telling you you've won a lottery in England, so you Googled some of the names and information, and found this post, which is here to tell you what you probably already expected: It's a scam. Next: Throw the damn thing away. If it came with a check in it, throw that away too - don't even bother trying to deposit it. It's absolutely going to bounce, and your bank might hit you with a fee.
If you want to do more, click here: http://dogofthefuture.livejournal.com/1 72869.html to read more about the scam and see if your letter has any different information than what I've been collecting. If it does leave a comment so I can add yours to the list, and hopefully we can keep other people from getting scammed.

Hello! If you are just now reading this, you have received what appears to be a notification that you won a lottery which you never entered. Sadly, you did not win anything. What you got is a SCAM. If you received a check, you are welcome to try cashing it, though it is absolutely, one hundred percent guaranteed to bounce. In the time that it takes the check to bounce, the scammers will demand that you wire them money, usually for "taxes." Their money is fake, but the money you send them is real and you will never, ever, ever get it back.
DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! Just throw the thing away.
So what else can you do? To some extent you've already done it. Just by searching for information about this on the internet, you've done more than many people would. Good for you! But what else can you do? Several things:
First: Check the lists of company names, officers, phone numbers and addresses. If the letter you got has names, addresses, or phones numbers that you don't see here, comment here (scroll down and click the link that says "Leave a comment," and it's *fine* to leave an anonymous comment) to let me know. I'll add the information to the list here.
Second: Throw the damn thing away AND warn any of your friends.
Third: You could report it to your local authorities, or give it to the US Postal Service for investigation - there's no question this is mail fraud. But the sad truth is that there's probably not much that can be done. That's what makes these sort of scams so attractive to scammers. So the very best thing you can do is not fall for it yourself.
